Held in conjunction with the city's annual Burning of the Courthouse Reenactment, the Tennessee Secession Sesquicentennial will return to original sources and first hand accounts to take a closer look into the important issues, events and figures that played a key role in the War Between the States and seek to understand and learn from our past history through a Biblical worldview.?
Guest lecturers will address questions such as:
- What is State Sovereignty?
- What was the original intent behind the Constitution of These United States?
- How did the Tariff of 1828 lead up to the War Between the States?
- Why Must We Study History?
- Is Secession Constitutional?
- What theological differences existed between the North and South?
- and much, much more!
In addition to our captivating speakers, you will be taken back 150 years through encounters with several notable figures from the day. Come and meet these fascinating people and hear them share their experiences, victories, struggles and heartaches. Enjoy hearing the musicians, as you brush shoulders with Southern citizens of the War era and witness a living history encampment.
